The Enugu State Association (ESA) of Washington, DC is having a Gala to raise awareness about Domestic Violence issues in Nigeria, specifically Enugu State. You know I love a good gala; especially when it focuses on human rights and present day gender equality issues. The event has already gained very notable sponsors including Arik Air, a Nigerian owned International airline that's been the hottest thing since sliced bread. Memorial Homecoming for our Madiba

They say your greatest work doesn't show when you're alive but after your death when the world can view your legacy. Mandela had a remarkable legacy. In bitter rain and cold, his memorial brings a crowd of 95,000 strong. The South African country did not make today a national Holiday in respect of Mandela's wishes. This along with the wether had an effect on the crowd that was supposed to fill the World Cup stadium as well as other overflow stadiums. Even so, people continued to trickle in to remember a great leader of our time. Included in the crowd were Winnie Mandela and President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria (who can't seem to find a new wardrobe...but anyway) Thabo Mbeki, Kofi Anaan, Desmond Tutu and other forward thinking African leaders were in the crowd. 

Obama arrives in South Africa

President Obama and the US delegation have at this time arrived. However, they've yet to arrive at the stadium. Mandela's  memorial opened with a welcoming address from Ramaphosa and now an interfaith prayer which is absolutely beautiful. Obama is Bold and Driven in Jerusalem

Israel is the most powerful country in the region and it is supported by the most powerful country in the world.

Obama speaks of America's support for Israel in a visit to Jerusalem speaking to young Israelis.

"So long as there is the USA you are not alone."

Heckled more than once Obama laughed off the critics saying "I feel right at home." This was a very bold and nonetheless historic speech. Obama has also visited Palestine and enforced his support stating "Palestine deserves their own state" restating that Palestinians

"Treatment of Palestine is not fair...Must be recognized."

However, this courageous speech has shown that USA as has done in the past still stands behind Israel. Obama's speech to the youth has been described by Foreign Affairs professionals as "going over the heads of Israeli leaders" whom in the past he's called cowards, in an effort to fastforward change and peace in the region. Romney Scared?

In the latest edition of "That's Not Fair" : Mitt Romney wants officials to dumb down the upcoming debate between him and President Obama. This only proves to me that there are no real politicians among Republicans. According to CNN the official quote from Romney's campaign was that Obama will "use his ample rhetorical gifts and debating experience to one end: attacking Romney." Well DUH! (As my 12 year old self used to say). Isn't that the purpose of a debate anyway? I mean they aren't necessarily there to make friends are they? Isn't Romney supposed to be a governor's son? I mean if he spent more money on books than on rotating luxury car garages maybe (just maybe) he might have some eloquence when he speaks. Obama's Rhetorical gifts huh? They aint seen nothin' yet.

Yesterday the Chelsea Football (soccer) club was competing for the UEFA championship against Bayern Munich; hence German Chancellor Merkel's presence in this photo. OCCUPY WALLSTREET in Baltimore, MD

The Occupy movement as you've read is worldwide. However, each country-and even city- has their own reasons for protesting. I went to the Occupy Wallstreet movement in Baltimore two weeks ago. Here's what I had to say.

Well well well, they finally did it. Someone finally made Obama angry and he has reportedly STORMED OUT(!!) of a meeting that was supposed to negotiate raising the debt ceiling. Oh well, I guess they took a brotha there...more to come.

Queen Rania and her husband King Abdullah awwwww they look so cute.

In the first edition of "Who's Wearing the Pants" Queen Rania of Jordan is in trouble for "controlling politics." Really though? Really? Isn't this a couple hundred years too late? I mean really I like Queen Rania I do. However, the complaint was something that should have been corrected over ten years ago when she became first lady.
Many of us know Queen Rania for her style, many comparisons to America's first lady Michelle Obama, because of her class, style, an education and friend to my icon, Oprah Winfrey. However, I didn't know she was controlling!
Okay so here's how it went down (scary dramatic music in the background) King Abdullah had a meeting with the tribal leaders of Jordan who came to him, because of the recent uprisings (kind of like the ones in Egypt and Yemen)and they said to him that his wife has controlled too much of the political atmosphere. According to BBC the public has been complaining that Queen Rania has been building power centers for her own personal interest. As if they didn't insult the Queen enough they went below the belt pointing out the fact that (ghetto accent) she ain't even from Jordan. That's right Queen Rania is from Palestine so what the Bedouin tribal leaders were saying was "we don't know her like that."
Well, just because the tribal leaders in Jordan want to follow the leader in protests in the middle east does not mean they have to accuse Queen Rania of "power-jackin'" them. King Abdullah did dissolve his entire cabinet and hire a new PM, an action of which many people have been critical. I don't have problems with people recognizing what's wrong with leaders, but insulting the family members is just wayyyy too far.
Whew, I sure would hate to be in her shoes.
