Westernized? ...or NOT

Something has happened in Africa and it is rejected because of ludeness/chauvinism....words we Africans use when trying to show that WE have values. You know...not like y'all westerners (lol). What happened? A store started selling funny shirts with controversial slogans on it....Don't worry, they were pulled off the shelf. One of the shirts displayed an acronym for the word 'Single'
Stay
Intoxicated
Nightly
Get
Laid
Everyday.
I actually thought it was funny. However, human rights groups, feminists, and anti-HIV groups didn't find humor at all.
I don't know. Doesn't South Africa have better things to worry about? Well...I guess sometimes you CAN knock the hustle.

Earthquake in Turkey

This is so sad. Ankara, Turkey is not a stranger to earthquakes. However, no one wants to see this type of damage. The photo above shows rescue workers literally digging survivors out of the rubble. It is 9:20pm GMT October 24th. As of this moment, the death toll is at 279.

OCCUPY WALLSTREET in Baltimore, MD

The Occupy movement as you've read is worldwide. However, each country-and even city- has their own reasons for protesting. I went to the Occupy Wallstreet movement in Baltimore two weeks ago. Here's what I had to say.

OH....MY....GOD

You know, when the people of Libya revolted against Gaddaffi I really did think they wanted a more tolerant leader. Maybe they do....but why this? You are looking at the back of a black Libyan. Since the revolts, there have been reports of migrant workers from sub-Saharan Africa and their passports being seized;thus barring them from returning to their homes. However THIS is wrong on so many levels. Arabs are already rumored to be racist against darker skinned individuals. Does THIS help that rumor and if it doesn't then why is this being done?
Disgusting.

Occupy Protests Around the World

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

In Rome.....

Normally at Zee Affairs we say "when in Rome." However, this time the practice is not starting in Rome. The Occupy protests which we can claim started with the Arab Spring, and caught on to the United States with "Occupy Wall Street", have also reached Rome, Italy and it looks as violent as ever. Looting, smashing stores, smashing police cars, being dounced with tear gas by police, all in an effort to stop greediness among the rich. We can only hope leaders are listening.
Let's wait and see what happens...

Okay Liberia : Clapping and rolling my eyes LOL

Oh my my my. It looks like Liberia is having a wonderful time. It's been staying out of Human Rights troubles, and 2 of their women have won Nobel Prizes. Yes, President Sirleaf (left) and activist Leymah Gbowee (right...hmm look at Gbowee....African mouth. Anyway (more recently) it's been conducting very very peaceful elections. Just yesterday the election took place between President Sirleaf of Liberia and a former Diplomat who's running mate just happens to be a former athlete (hmmm...sound familiar anyone? fake cough: Republican Party). I don't know why everyone thinks fame leads to political office!!! Oh well. Back to Liberia: President Sirleaf has been making waves since her election, but proud Mama Bear (as described by Huffington Post) is securing her Presidential seat by promoting gender equality among many other things. Let's sit back and sip koolaid. After years of political turmoil this sun has definately come out for Liberia.

THIS is what Democracy looks like.

Occupy Wallstreet is Growing by the Masses. All over the country people express their distrust in big corporations and frustration with lack of jobs. Truly, truly a powerful picture.
