When your idol meets her idol

Many of you know how much I love Susan Rice. I absolutely am blown away by Susan Rice. So it was interesting for me to see that there's someone who impresses her as well. This week she met with Aung San Suu Kyi, the human rights advocate who was exiled from her land. Rice called Suu Kyi her "role model." Now that's a big badge of honor.

Romney Scared?

In the latest edition of "That's Not Fair" : Mitt Romney wants officials to dumb down the upcoming debate between him and President Obama. This only proves to me that there are no real politicians among Republicans. According to CNN the official quote from Romney's campaign was that Obama will "use his ample rhetorical gifts and debating experience to one end: attacking Romney." Well DUH! (As my 12 year old self used to say). Isn't that the purpose of a debate anyway? I mean they aren't necessarily there to make friends are they? Isn't Romney supposed to be a governor's son? I mean if he spent more money on books than on rotating luxury car garages maybe (just maybe) he might have some eloquence when he speaks. Obama's Rhetorical gifts huh? They aint seen nothin' yet.

What do you take with you when...?

In the latest edition of "Fall From Grace": It's always said by elders not to be greedy, because when we die we can not take material things with us. Imelda Marcos surely missed that memo.Immelda Marcos is probably known for her 1,220 shoe collection. Designer shoe collection that is.
However, breaking news this morning showed that karma is surely a bitch going to catch up with people. You see termites and mold have ruined the designer shoe collection when the items were neglected after a massive earthquake and flood an earthquake happened in the Philippines years ago. The flood affected a museum where Marcos' most precious shoes were stored. When Museum staffers noticed water flowing in from underneath a door, they opened it and sent Marcos' shoes and evening gowns busting through the museum. Needless to say the water damage and mold mean the items HAVE to be thrown away...Imean who would want those dreadful, (and now) disgusting shoes. I know what you're thinking so I'll just say it. "Yes there is a God."

Checkmate...

So it finally caught up with him. The Nigerian Military finally killed the head of Islamic Militant group "Boko Haram." How do I feel? It couldn't have happened at a better time. Yes, I do feel it will be effective. It's time to take these negative groups apart piece by piece so that we as a whole can have peace. It's good for the world and (as seen from yesterday's article) It's good for Africa.

Africa Burning

It seems like the Africa (as we know it) is rapidly changing before our eyes and under our feet. What happens when religious fundamentalists hijack the news? Heroes, ambassadors, innocent tourists, and the like are killed. I am still trying to fathom the horrendous news of Ambassador Stevens' death. It seems like that was only the beginning, following that was the murder of tourists in Khartoum, Sudan on Friday, and yesterday (Saturday September 15th) the US ordered all "non essential staff" to leave Tunis, Tunisia for fear of further violence. Not only do I wish for it to stop, but I also wonder about the actions of those who incited these attacks in the first place. As sane individuals we don't allow films to dictate our actions and can correctly channel our anger to constructive use. However, religious fanatics (as we've seen in the past with danish cartoons) can not. Libya has arrested 50 individuals that the government suspected were behind the attacks. However, I feel that in addition to this, individuals must display cultural sensitivity with films, books, and other media, because of the violence it may (when put in the wrong hands) cause.
