SAVE THE DATE #arikair #arik #nigeria #dmv

Zebra Stripe this event needs to be in your calendar. The Enugu State Association (ESA) of Washington, DC is having a Gala to raise awareness about Domestic Violence issues in Nigeria, specifically Enugu State. You know I love a good gala; especially when it focuses on human rights and present day gender equality issues. The event has already gained very notable sponsors including Arik Air, a Nigerian owned International airline that's been the hottest thing since sliced bread. Read more about the event and it's sponsors HERE . Trust me you don't want to miss it. The chance at two round trip tickets to Nigeria is one of the many items up for grabs.

Kung Hei Fat Choy!! Happy #ChineseNewYear! !!

Its the year of the Horse! !! Yay!!
I like horses. So here are some things to know peeps!

Heads up so if you know someone born in the year of the horse here's some things about them. They're bit like horses: animated, active and energetic – they love being in a crowd, independence  and they have a straightforward and positive attitude towards life.(cont'd)
Also if you were born in a horse year its said you should avoid those born in the year of the rat, ox, or rabbit....hold up but I was born in the year of the rat....well there goes friendship opportunities. Anyway you're in good company.  Year of the horse people include  Aretha Franklin and Cindy Crawford.
So enjoy! Have a couple drinks, or a lot, just dont go crazy cuz that would be weird.

WHEW!!! #DIAMOND

BLING  BLING BOW!!

Well if this isn't the finest diamond I EVER  did see. This is what a 29.3 carat rare blue diamond looks like....and I like it! (and the angels sing "ahhhhh!!")

Apparently, the mine where this fine gem was found has more where this came from.Cullinan mine; made famous for the 530 carat 'Star of Africa' diamond, which by the way, is a member of the British crown jewels. Mmmhhmm...if I could get my hands on this!!!...Better yet if only I could get this on my hand. What? A girl can dream right?!

It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's...

ORBIS HOSPITAL!!!
Just about the coolest hospital I ever did see. This flying medical facility was created in 1980 with the purpose of providing care to blind or visually impaired individuals in the developing world whose medical facilities don't have the level of care needed to treat people in their country. It's a world tour people! And everyone's feeling better.

The first time ORBIS went into air was in 1982 and since people from Cameroon to the Central African Republic have been receiving eye care for ailments such as glaucoma, blindness, and much more!

Now everyone can receive treatment thanks to Dr. David Paton who created ORBIS in 1980  to deliver medical supplies. Now eyecare is the focus as ORBIS. In fact, in Cameroon 25% of people needing cataract surgery are able to get treated...AWESOME!!

The services are available for children but adults can get treated too!

So next time you look up in the sky, it might not be Virgin Airlines but the most forward thinking ophthalmology facility you've heard of!

Symbols of White Dominance in 2014?

O...M...G

Oh my goodness gracious, the morals have fallen. what's wrong with this photo?
Tastless maybe? She could know better she's the editor of Garage magazine sitting on a chair shaped as a black woman. Really though? What justification would she have for this. I can't wait to hear her excuse. Some in the fashion world are calling this a symbol of "white dominance. Click HERE to read more.

Let there be ICE!!! #Harbin

It's  January 2014 which means the Harbin Ice festival in China is in full effect. This is a Chinese city known for its cold weather, even notoriously colder than some Russian Cities. Every year, Harbin  scults a city entirely out of ice.

A tourist attraction for sure, ice is used to build sculptures, skyscraper look-a-likes, and animals using tools normally used for building construction.

Next time you're in  China be sure to check this out!

Legalized weed doesn't feel so good #Colorado

There appears to be a shift in the United States in favor of relaxing marijuana laws, a topic that has dipped in and out of the national conversation for decades. Public perceptions about pot have come a long way, from the dire warnings of "Reefer Madness" to growing acceptance of medical marijuana.

Many of you watched the news as thousands of pot fiends lined around the block in Colorado for the newly legalized recreational marijuana. As the country jumps up and down and oggles at the news coverage I'd have to say that I'm not so enthused. Why you ask?.... Let's think for a second: how many people are sitting in prison for distributing this drug that's now "recreational" in some states. What do we say to them?

I can't help but think that everything they've gone through is slowly becoming in vain, because marijuana is now "recreationalized" it comes across to me as the government saying 'screw it we can't win against this war on drugs.' I'm a clean girl so mary jane isn't necessarily my thing, call me what you want I'll just have to be a critic when it comes to this.
