Day of Anger Video.

Hello and Good Morning to those of you reading this in the US. I was and still am very excited in anticipation of today's "Day of Anger" in Egypt. Throughout the country, people have taken to the streets in protest of President Mubarak's administration. The world is watching, but, as many of you may know, forms of communication have been blocked, as they normally are whenever there's a coup taking place or about to take place. This made it impossible to find live video feed. I have, however, been able to get a clip of today's protest through social media like youtube courtesy of Associated Press.

I have been looking at the footage on YouTube all day. One thing that I was surprised by is the U.S. response to what's going on. I heard that Egypt is one of our major allies in the Middle East. I wonder why this time we're not talking about how important democracy is. We did it in Iraq.

Well that has been interesting. It's been said that US reactions have been very "safe and cautious" I'd say the US has taken a stand, but you have to remember Nakia one criticism about the US' actions is that it tries to influence democratic propaganda on other nations. Definately, we have seen that as the Obama administration's foreign policy is more diplomatic than demagoguish it will not take such a harsh stand. I do agree with you in that if we see a head of state behaving in such a distasteful manner we should speak out. However, the people and organizations that we need to see acting are the international bodies like the UN or other organizations that can sanction Egypt if it doesn't change its ways instead of asking the US to save the world again and again.
